About

Deliberate practice for Motivational Interviewing, with the honesty MI deserves.

MI Mastery is a practice tool for clinicians and students learning Motivational Interviewing. You talk or type with a generated patient who holds their ambivalence until you earn change talk, then you get a debrief grounded in your own transcript and one recommendation for what to practise next.

It exists because MI skills fade between workshops, and because expert supervision is scarce. It is built to be the reps in between, not to replace the people.

Who

Who builds it

MI Mastery is built and operated by Gliance Dev LLC, a California limited liability company. The company name appears in every agreement a subscriber accepts, and the terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.

The team writes the guides on this site as well, under the same rules the product follows: describe the method as it is taught, mark where competitors are stronger, and never claim what cannot be shown.

How the coaching is built

Principles the product is tested against

A mentor, not an examiner

The coaching reports movement over time and recommends one thing to practise next. It never grades, ranks, or certifies a learner, and the copy is tested to keep it that way.

Every quote is transcript-checked

Before feedback reaches a learner, each quoted line is verified against the session transcript and its speaker. Anything misattributed or altered is discarded rather than shown.

Counts, not impressions

Open and closed questions, simple and complex reflections, affirmations, and the reflection-to-question ratio are counted from the transcript. MI Spirit dimensions are rated across the whole conversation, in the manner of MITI-style global ratings.

Simulated patients only

Every patient is generated for the session. Learners practise with them, never with real patient information, and the product is not a HIPAA-covered service.

Scope

What it is not

  • Not a certification or credential. MITI-oriented feedback here is formative; official MITI coding uses trained human coders.
  • Not a replacement for MI workshops, supervision, or MINT-aligned training. It is for the reps between them.
  • Not for clinical documentation or real-patient care.
